Signals & Intelligence

HL Vaults provides two layers of vault intelligence: deterministic signals (computed from on-chain data with no AI) and AI-powered analysis (LLM-generated insights when you configure a provider).

Both layers are ★ Pro features.

Deterministic Signals★ Pro

These signals are computed entirely from on-chain data. No AI, no configuration needed — they work immediately for every vault once you’re on the Pro plan.

Each signal is presented as a card with a rating (Low / Medium / High / Extreme) and a plain-English explanation.

Style Fingerprint★ Pro

Analyzes the vault’s trading patterns to classify their style:

  • Scalper: Many small trades, short hold times
  • Swing Trader: Medium-duration positions, trend-following
  • Position Trader: Few large positions, long hold times
  • Market Maker: Tight bid-ask, high frequency

The fingerprint also shows how consistent the vault is with their declared style.

Leverage Profile★ Pro

The vault’s typical and current leverage usage, categorized as:

  • Conservative: Typically under 1.5x
  • Moderate: 1.5x to 3x
  • Aggressive: 3x to 5x
  • Extreme: Over 5x

Shows how the current leverage compares to the vault’s historical average. A vault that normally runs 1.5x but is currently at 4x is behaving unusually.

Drawdown Recovery★ Pro

Analyzes how the vault has recovered from past drawdowns:

  • Time to recover from each significant drawdown
  • Average recovery speed
  • Whether the vault tends to recover fully or partially

A vault that recovers quickly from drawdowns is less risky than one that stays in drawdown for months.

Depositor Concentration★ Pro

Measures how diversified the depositor base is:

  • Well Distributed: No single depositor dominates
  • Moderately Concentrated: Top depositor holds significant share
  • Highly Concentrated: One or two depositors control most capital

High concentration is risky — if the top depositor withdraws, it could destabilize the vault.

Trading Velocity★ Pro

How frequently the vault trades:

  • High Velocity: Many trades per day
  • Medium Velocity: Several trades per week
  • Low Velocity: Few trades per month

High velocity generates more fees but may indicate active management. Low velocity suggests a “set and forget” approach.

Cross-Vault Correlations★ Pro

Compares this vault’s returns to other vaults. High correlation means two vaults move together (similar strategies or market exposure). Low correlation means they’re independent.

This is useful for diversification — if you’re invested in two highly correlated vaults, you’re not as diversified as you think.

AI-Powered Analysis★ Pro

For deeper insights, you can connect an LLM provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible API). The AI generates three types of analysis:

Personality Dossier★ Pro

An LLM-generated profile of the vault leader’s trading personality. It analyzes:

  • Decision-making patterns (aggressive vs. conservative)
  • Risk management behavior
  • Behavioral biases (overconfidence, loss aversion, etc.)
  • Consistency and discipline

Think of this as a “trader psych profile” — it helps you understand the person behind the strategy.

Return Forecast★ Pro

The AI analyzes the vault’s historical performance, current market conditions, and trading patterns to generate:

  • Short-term outlook (next 1-2 weeks)
  • Medium-term outlook (next 1-3 months)
  • Key risks that could affect performance

Important: Forecasts are speculative. They are based on pattern recognition, not guaranteed predictions.

Red Flag Detection★ Pro

The AI scans for potential warning signs:

  • Unusual trading behavior compared to historical patterns
  • Sudden changes in leverage, position sizing, or strategy
  • Concentrated positions in volatile assets
  • Behavior that has preceded losses in the past

Red flags are early warnings, not definitive judgments. They help you decide which vaults to investigate further.

Setting up AI★ Pro

To use AI-powered analysis:

  1. Go to Settings → AI
  2. Choose your provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or custom API)
  3. Enter your API key
  4. Click “Test Connection” to verify

Once configured, AI analysis becomes available on every vault detail page.
